Cub Sport: Music with a message

The new album from Australian pop group Cub Sport offers a place to unite. Join the celebration!

By Michael Hartmann. April 8, 2023.

Cub Sport is a four-piece band from Brisbane, Australia. One album after another, the band’s music moves from shame toward joy and celebration. With their fifth album Jesus At The Gay Bar, the band achieves ecstatic lightness.

From  Spotify:

Prolific and profoundly, Cub Sport are one of Australia’s most significant pop exports, and arguably the most successful independent (self-managed and self-released) band in the country.

Band members are Tim Nelson, Sam Netterfield, Zoe Davis, and Dan Puusaari.

With nods to house, 2-step, and UK garage, Jesus At The Gay Bar celebrates love and life through the language of dance music.

This album features uplifting pop music with a message. The songs are enjoyable on the dance floor and invite the listener to reflect on life and love.

“Beg U”:

I’m going through something new
I’ll beg you for it (I’m feeling low but it’s not because of you)
All the love that I need
And I look at you and cry
I’m going through something new
