Raw talent: Drew Allen.

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]akland based RnB/Pop singer Drew Allen made his mark after his run on American Idol season 14. He presents rich, reflective lyrical content, honest story-telling and catchy hooks.

He has completed a 16 city west coast tour. His music is being played in over 60 countries. I asked Drew about his blend of pop and Rnb. His answers included Michael Jackson and a poem about love.

Michael: -For Scandinavian listeners who don’t know you, can you describe your music?

Drew: -I like to think my music is a blend of Pop and RnB. I love making feel good music. That feeling that you get when a song resonates with you so well. To draw out every emotion that music gives.

Michael: -What sets you apart you from other artists in your genre?

Drew: -I feel like there are a lot of pop artists, and a lot of RnB artists, but not a lot of artist that blend the two together.

Michael:Rockin With You is one of my favourites. It’s smooth and catchy. When I heard it for the first time, I thought about the 80s. I could hear some Michael Jackson in there…

Drew: As a kid I was heavily influenced by Michael Jackson, he was my favourite artist growing up, so there is definitely some MJ in there.

Michael: -I love these words from Interlude:

Perhaps the pain is so great because great love is not built with expiration dates. Yes, pain lasts a lot longer than pleasure. But true love last a little longer than forever.

Michael: -What is the story behind the words?

Drew: -No secret love story behind this one. This is actually a poem that a friend of mine wrote. I am a fan of his work and wanted to collaborate with him to create some great art. He allowed me to use one of his poems that relates to the body of work surrounding love and relationships.

Michael: -More music coming up?

Drew: -Absolutely! I dont have dates yet, but a catalogue full of songs ready to drop!
Please stay tuned because it wont be long!
